BELONIA (South Tripura), Oct 15 (TIWN): CPI-M has kicked off massive protest statewide voicing against the politically motivated case against former PWD Minister Badal Choudhury. The protest with red-flags started from the party office at there slamming the BJP Govt for its attempt to harass Badal Choudhury and retired Govt officers who were involved in various construction works for state’s development. Similar protests are being continued statewide after CPI-M HQ on yesterday followed by day-long police’s broad-day light illegal activities, raids without warrant in the party headquarter and rejecting of accepting bail-bond by West Agartala Police had called for statewide protests. Badal Choudhury who is the MLA at there is a favourite leader of the South Tripura. He is also the deputy opposition leader of CPI-M. It was observed that to help the MLA and former Minister, not only CPI-M but neutral and social activists toiled on ground till late night, fought with police.

Advocate Purushottom Roy Barman said that as Badal Choudhury successfully raised various issues hitting the Govt at the Assembly that why Badal Choudhury is the ruling Govt’s target.

Calling it a politically motivated case, advocates of former PWD Minister Badal Choudhury said, “The issue is of 2008 which was outcome of a cabinet decision, approved by Public Accounts Committee later. So there is no ground of the case, but we will see the issue later and till now we were working for the bail as FIR was lodged, but this is totally politically motivated case”.

Court on yesterday accepted interim bail of former PWD Minister Badal Choudhury but at night violating court’s order police rejected the bail plea of the former Minister.

The FIR was filed based on Rs. 600 crore’s alleged scam asking why 10% extra was paid to outsider companies in those constructions which included bridge, buildings but the record was revealed which is clearly stating that all payments were decided in the Cabinet meeting, alter approved PAC.

In 2008, 23rd June Finance Dept called a meeting, where Law Secretary, Senior Secretaries from various depts as industry etc stay as members of work advising committee and their decisions are highest. There is no right of Minister , although Badal Choudhury observed the meeting and in that meeting 10% extra payment issue was discussed.

BJP MLA Sudip Roy Barman also told media on yesterday when the hearing was going on at West District Court, that in the chargesheet there was no name of Badal Choudhury submitted by police linking the scam but how his name came or how police searching for him, it’s confusing.

Police’s illegal activities started from Sunday night in search of Badal Choudhury followed by raid in Melarmath CPI-M HQ without search warrant, then not accepting bail-bond of Badal Choudhury violating court’s order.

After the bail-bond was rejected by police including GD entry, Advocate Arindam Bhattacherjee said that for hours the I/O made them seated, but at least no bail bond was accepted, which is totally a violation of law and contempt of court.Bhattacharya said, “It was almost that we came to surrender in the police station but violating court’s order Badal Choudhury’s bond was denied. Now let’s see till where it goes”.It can be mentioned here that after day long hearing, the West District Court has postponed the final order till 16th October but in a relief for former PWD Minister Badal Choudhury, court has accepted interim bail at the bond of Rs. 3 lakhs, but the I/O denied the bail.
