AGARTALA, Aug 23 (TIWN): “If like P. Chadambaram case, me also is not allowed to explain the matter, then nothing can be done. Ofcourse if scam happened, punishments will be given but the way attack was done on Chidambaram’s home just after CBI interrogated him, it shows where the administration is heading towards”, said Tripura’s former Finance Minister Badal Chowdhury referring arrest of former Union Minister of Finance of India, after Badal Choudhury in Tripura was also interrogated by vigilance team on Thursday in construction works from 2008-18.

The former Minister didn’t stop here, further hit State BJP Govt accusing for not maintaining the constructed roads since assumed power which were constructed by CPI-M Govt. 

However, Badal Choudhury was not reportedly asked about any particular construction work by the vigilance team and according to his statement, he asked Govt first to give him copies of 2008-18’s construction works along with reports from Secretaries of that time so that he can relate those works.

“If with political reason, the Govt is behind me I don’t care, what can be done ?”, Choudhury said with a small grin. Badal Choudhury today was summoned by vigilance team reportedly on Rs. 850 crore’s construction work, whereas Choudhury said, there was no specific question with a particular amount and they asked for Badal Choudhury’s help in investigation. Badal Choudhury reportedly asked the vigilance team whether he has called as witness or accused, but he was said just to answer few questions to help the investigation.

Earlier on August 5, he was called by CID in Flyover construction works. On being asked by media, whether he was called for Rs. 850 crore’s scam, Badal Choudhury said that why 850 crore’s only, there is no limitation of CPI-M Govt’s developmental works taking from Ujjayanta Palace’s renovation to this particular office itself.

“Again, such investigations are matters of pride as it proves CPI-M Govt did lots of developmental works and that’s the reason they are calling the former Minister”, he said.

“We are proud of the countless works held between 2008-18. But without those papers....how the bills were passed in Assembly.....how they were implemented, if I don’t see those them and can’t talk to the officials, how can I related an event before 10 years ?”, he added.

The interrogation was done by Jerema Darlong, Deputy SP, Vigilance.

Except construction works, earlier Badal Choudhury was called in Rose Valley chit fund scam as “witness” as he was the Finance Minister on that time.
