AGARTALA, Aug 22 (TIWN): After summoned, interrogated by Vigilance team, Tripura’s former Finance and PWD Minister, CPI-M's one of the top leaders 67 years old Badal Choudhury went bold in his speech while addressing media. Even he referred P.Chidambaram’s arrest and said he can see easily what is going to happen with him too. “If with political reason, the Govt is behind me I don’t care, what can be done ?”, Choudhury said with a small grin. Badal Choudhury today was summoned by vigilance team reportedly on Rs. 850 crore’s construction work, whereas Choudhury said, there was no specific question with a particular amount and they asked for Badal Choudhury’s help in investigation. Badal Choudhury reportedly asked the vigilance team whether he has called as witness or accused, but he was said just to answer few questions to help the investigation. Earlier on August 5, he was called by CID in Flyover construction works. On being asked by media, whether he was called for Rs. 850 crore’s scam, Badal Choudhury said that why 850 crore’s only, there is no limitation of CPI-M Govt’s developmental works taking from Ujjayanta Palace’s renovation to this particular office itself.

“Such interrogations show that CPI-M Govt did lots of developmental works and that’s the reason they are calling the former Minister”, he said.

According to Badal Choudhury’s statement, when the officers asked him about a decision of the Finance Dept in 2008 and according to it what construction works were done, Badal Choudhury asked the officers to give him Dept’s papers/ files of those years so that he can go through the details. He also asked the Vigilance team to manage a meeting with all officials together of that time so that the overall report they can get.

“We till date, feel proud of the works held between 2008-18. But without those papers....how the bills were passed in Assembly.....how they were implemented, if I don’t see those them and can’t talk to the officials, how can I related an event before 10 years ?”, he added.

He further slammed the BJP Govt accusing for destroying all roads due to maintenance which were constructed by the then Left Govt.
