AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, Aug 5 (TIWN): When neutral people in social media are asking the Government will the problem of terror threats will end under the new strategy of the Modi Govt or it will be like demonetization move which ended up turning black moneys in white, CPI-M and other Left Parties have announced protest on August 7 with message of ‘Stop Destruction of the State of Jammu & Kashmir’. CM Biplab Deb said that it was the dream of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee's "Ek desh, Ek Vidhan, Ek Pradhan aur Ek Nishan" came true today. Thanks to PM Narendra Modi ji and Amit Shah ji for this historic decision of revoking #Article370 from J&K”.Calling for defending Article 370, CPI-M said, “The Modi government has struck a big blow at democracy and the Constitution by scrapping Article 370 of the Constitution and dismantling the state of Jammu & Kashmir”.

The people of Kashmir had acceded to India in the face of invaders from Pakistan and a solemn commitment had been made to them by the Indian State to provide them with special status and autonomy which was embodied in Article 370. The Modi government has betrayed the people of Jammu & Kashmir by going back on this commitment.

The CPI(M) calls upon all democratic-minded people to join the all-India protest day called by the Left parties on August 7.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah earlier today moved the Rajya Sabha, announcing the government has decided to repeal Article 370. Shah also said the government has decided to bifurcate the state into two Union Territories – Jammu and Kashmir, which will have a legislature, and Ladakh, which will be without a legislature.

The scrapping of Article 370 will have far-reaching repercussions on the restive state as the abrogation suspends the clause that allowed all laws to be first be ratified by the state assembly, which currently stands dissolved.

President Ram Nath Kovind has exercised his power under Clause 1 of Article 370. The presidential order has done away sections under Article 35A, which provides special privileges to “permanent residents" of the state while defining the term “permanent residents".
