AGARTALA, Aug 5 (TIWN): Tripura’s increasing unemployment, job slashing, worklessness situations have created panic across the state. From Educated TET qualified youths to Tom Tom drivers, everywhere a crisis situation erupting resentments among people and the BJP led State Govt is also facing tough situation to handle to problems. 1141 TET qualified youths are jobless whereas poor workers are also facing various problems just like the ongoing tom-tom drivers’ problems. Centre for Monitoring of Indian Economy (CMIE) has revealed its monthly data on Indian state’s unemployment rates, listing Tripura on the top of the list. In compare to last month there is however 3% down in unemployment rate which was 26.6% and this month it stands at 23.3%. Himachal Pradesh emerged in the second position with 19.6% whereas Haryana at 19.5%. CMIE is a database of the financial performance of Indian companies. Annual Reports of individual companies is the principal source of this database.

The database covers listed and unlisted companies. For listed companies, the database includes data sourced from the stock exchanges. There is a huge drop in Govt job rates in Tripura may be one of the reasons for increasing unemployment rate.

Before Assembly election, the then Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on February 11, 2018 had promised Tripura’s 7 lakhs unemployed youths that if BJP is voted to power then within one year State Govt will fill-up 50,000 vacant posts, but State Finance Dept after BJP assumed power gave a pause in the recruitment asking all depts to stop recruitments.

Govt has taken initiative for skill development. 23,000 youths to be trained under Skill Development project by 2020.

Highest rate of unemployment is seen in the Education Dept whereas over thousands of unemployed are left jobless both in schools and colleges.

However, the Govt is encouraging entrepreneurship to curb unemployment rate.
