AGARTALA, July 17 (TIWN): Signaling statehood demand is with positive development and other problems raised by IPFT were taken seriously by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, IPFT Minister Mebar Jamatia has told media after arriving in Agartala Airport that IPFT’s Delhi abhiyan has remained hugely successful. News reports which claimed, IPFT was not given importance by the central govt has been rubbished by Mebar Jamatia. He said, these reports are misleading, rather IPFT’s meeting was so successful that after 15 days they have been called again for another set of meeting. The IPFT leader also said that the present Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also more cooperative than the previous Minister who have given IPFT huge time to discuss about all problems. The Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura is a regional political party in Tripura, India. It is a member of the North-East Democratic Alliance and North-East Regional Political Front, a group of political parties of the northeast that supports the National Democratic Alliance. The party is in alliance with BJP formed the State Govt with two of its Ministers.

Leaders of the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), an ally of the ruling BJP, visited Delhi to meet the Prime Minister, Home Minister and other central ministers to press their statehood demand have met Amit Shah, the Home Minister. However, news reports came that Home Minister didn’t recognize the Tipraland demand and denied to discuss about that, said report, although other demands were discussed with the Govt. Today Mebar Jamatia has said, these news reports are totally misleading.

Their demands include : 1) Re-demarcation of boundaries of District council, 2) Re-Delamination of District council, 3) Speedy implementation of special developmental packages, 4) Free ration system in 23 RD blocks, 5) Prevention of disturbances and attacks upon IPFT supporters and unwanted incidents in the tribal belts, 6) In case of land occupying proper compensation should be given to ST people, 7) Roman script for Kokborok and inclusion of Kokborok in 8th schedule. 8)  Rejection of 6th Schedule Amendment Bill 2015 etc
