SANTIRBAZAR, July 10 (TIWN): Pathetic condition of Santir Bazar roadways specially across the Rail Station has become daily distress of common men and passengers. People have blamed the PWD and local leaders for the roadway, saying it is delaying the Railways functioning even though South Tripura is connected by train service except Santir Bazar due to pathetic condition of roadways. It has been alleged that even after multiple complaints local BJP MLA Pramod Reang and PWD didn’t show any interest to the agonies of the common men which has erupted massive resentment among the locals. Santir Bazar railway station is a proposed railway station in South Tripura district, would serve Santir Bazar village. The station lies on the Agartala - Sabroom rail section, which comes under the Lumding railway division of the Northeast Frontier Railway, but locals said, it failed to create any change in the local MLA and also PWD.

PWD is under scanner since the CPI-M era and the officials are continuing careless attitudes amid Govt’s warning against remiss employees.

Even after PM Modi and CM Biplab Deb’s initiative to develop roadways and recent sanctions for Gramin Sadak Yojna, the local MLA’s lethargy could not deliver people’s voice to the CM which has bound them to share their distressful situation with media.  It can be mentioned here that the PWD’s hopeless attitude is not new but cultivated since decades. Recently a news came how PWD’s negligence kept national paralyzed at North after landslide’s 7 days. Same corruption allegations came against PWD when bridges, roadways collapsed time to time in Tripura. Even the flyover could not be inaugurated due to alleged corruption of the PWD.

Talking to local people across Santir Bazar area, they told TIWN, “Prime Minister Modi had dedicated South Tripura rail connectivity which was much awaited dream of the people. But unfortunately even after NFR’s full dedication and quality work, although railway station is made, but local PWDs negligence failed to develop the roadways yet. It shows how lethargic the attitude of PWD towards state’s development”.  “In rainy season the difficulties for people increase more and vehicle, specially bikes movement become very tough. The local MLA as if has no interest to develop the area and after election is hardly seen”, added the locals.  The locals said, right now they have only one demand that is the rail service’s launching and roadways development.
