AGARTALA, June 11 (TIWN): Narcotism injected society in Tripura like hell in last few decades and in reality the Drug-Free Tripura dream needs a longer march ahead. Amid police’s day to day raids and seizing of contraband items, BSF HQ at Salbagan has reported that 7 Indians, 6 Bangladeshis, 20 Myanmar nationals were arrested in last one month (May, 2019). It has been alleged time to time that all smuggler who were under Communist shelter are now continuing the same illegal activities claiming them as BJP supporters and a section of mafias and criminals under political banner continue drug-smuggling and illegal business. BSF recently has also alleged that drug smugglers are using women now a days as employee. Out of total value of sezures at indicated above, goods worth Rs. 2,28,57,902/- were being smuggled out to Bangladesh where as goods worth Rs.13,45,853/- were coming into the Indian territory illegally from Bangladesh. In addition to above, BSF troops also apprehended 07 Indian and 06 Bangladeshi and 20 Myanmar nationals while they were illegally crossing the Indo-BD border in the State of Tripura .

They also affected seizures of large number of contraband goods like Sarees, Garments, Vehicle, Cattle, Phensidyl, Medicines, Fish, Yaba Tablets, liquor, fire Cracker,  Ganja and Misc item  etc. worth Rs. 2,42,03,756/- from the bordering areas of Kamlasagar, Ashabari, N C Nagar, UNC Nagar, Kullubari, Nirbhoypur, Srimantapur, Rangamura, Dhanpur (Dist. Sepahijala), Kathalcheri, Hrishiyamukh, Beltoli, Srinagar, Harbatoli, Chitabari. Nalua (Distt. Tripura South), Lathiapura  (Distt.Unakoti), Yakubnagar Sahib, Sartiong, Mangroli (distt Tripura North)   Khan, Khangrabari, Katlamura, Bogabil  (Dist- Khowai).

It happened when state was under strict vigilance due to election.

BSF said, “During the month of May 2019, the general situation along international boundary in the state of Tripura remained calm and peaceful. No untoward incident occurred and BSF maintained cordial relationship with Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB). Troops deployed on the border remained vigilant and dominated their respective area with proactive measures to prevent trans-border crimes”.

Now if this is the condition during vigilance what would happen throughout the year it’s questionable. Govt of Tripura is employing huge numbers of TSRs by this year to strengthen the security further.
