AGARTALA, Jan 11 (TIWN): North East Student Organization (NESO) team have visited Tripura 3 days after Jirania police firing incident, but were stopped from entering Khumulwng hospital where the victims of TSF were admitted. NSEO members said, “Don’t think indigenous people are alone. We will come to Tripura again and it’s quite unexpected that the Govt is not allowing us to enter that area. We are here not to disrupt the peace, but to reestablish the peace and to stand with the victims”. They further called Tripura Govt 'fascist' and trying to hide something, which the Govt doesn’t want to be disclosed. They also expressed surprises on the massive attack in the ambulance which was going to hospital after police firing and where the attack took place it was just half km away from the actual incident zone. They have however appreciated the GB hospital doctors for their care. Police allegedly stopped NESO members saying that Section 144 is going on at there whereas NESO said that they will come again as Tripura belong to India and an as Indian anybody is allowed to visit any state. Voicing against citizenship Bill, NESO said that except BJP all the political parties have opposed that and India should be for Indians.“Protecting outsiders is India’s tradition but not giving permanent citizenship”, said NESO.

“Some propagandas are there we are against Bengalis, but it’s not that. We are not against Bengalis but we are against Bangladeshis”, said NESO.

“Attitude of Narendra Modi to pass citizenship bill amid oppositions’ protest is called fascist attitude of a Govt”, the NESO said.

NESO further condemned Govt’s attitude of filing cases against the agitators who were staging protests against citizenship bill and were victimized.

About police firing NESO said, “It’s barbaric, we condemn the attack and we demand Judicial investigation in the incident of January 8, 2019”.

The BJP-led Tripura government on Thursday ordered a magisterial inquiry into the police firing on Tuesday injuring six tribal youths, agitating against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. But all opposition parties including BJP’s ally IPFT have demanded Judicial investigation whereas one demanded CBI probe.

 Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said West Tripura District Magistrate Sandeep Mahatme would inquire into the January 8 incidents and submit a report "within the shortest possible time."

"After getting the report, the government would take appropriate steps and the guilty would not be spared," Deb told the media before leaving for New Delhi to attend the national council meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Rajiv Singh said: "Some tribal youths while demonstrating against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill turned violent at Madhab Bari in western Tripura on Tuesday. The police, Tripura State Rifles and CRPF troopers, after taking all necessary steps were unable to control the mob. The police then opened fire injuring six tribal youths, two of them seriously”.

Except BJP, all the political parties have condemned the incident. All non-BJP parties including IPFT have demanded Judicial investigation in the case.
