Today Tripura is undergoing two sets of strike schedule. One was by trade unions as a part of 2-days-long strike and another was by regional parties in support of 11 hours strike.

Already on yesterday, in press meets, press releases, Tripura regional parties have opposed Citizenship Bill saying, “The Joint Action Committee of Civil Society (JACCS) wholeheartedly support to the strike called by the “North East Students’ Organization” (NESO) on 8th January, 2019 from 5 am to 4 pm in entire North East India for the initiative of the Govt. of India on the “The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016” and for the recent announcement of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India at Silchar rally that the said Bill will be passed soon”.  So, the strike was scheduled and at the same time all the opposition parties also called for peace and democratic environment but uncontrolled Chief Minister’s Home Ministry led by the alleged de-facto Home Minister Pratima Bhowmik has resulted in massive violence.

Section 144 has been continuing across Jirania, internet service was already partially disrupted. Now, the situation has been claimed under control. All the injured youths are admitted in Khumulwng hospital and GB hospital.
