AGARTALA, Jan 8 (TIWN): Exposing RSS, BJP’s social evils and ideologies on Sunday at Agartala, Eminent Lawyer, former Kolkata Mayor Bikash Bhattacharjeein a Lawyer’s convention reiterated the fact that RSS and BJP’s goal is suppressing Democracy by using fear among general masses, so organized rapes, murders, criminal mafia acts are natural to Saffron ideology. Bikas Bhattacharjee narrated how Saffron mafia rapes women, spread mass terror across society so that people surrender out of fear. Very similar fashion across Tripura, massive murders, rapes, violence, even BJP attacked CPI-M leader Ajit Das’s 75 yrs old mother to many opposition leaders young girl childs, wives to generate massive fear to destroy democracy. BJP’s organized terror across Tripura under Crime queen Pratima Bhowmik cum noted Ganja, Fensedyl Smuggler and her brother Bishwajit Bhowmik, under full support of CM Biplab Deb already proven the fact that those attacks are not isolated, its part of BJP’s organized violence.

Perhaps the least discussed and most important aspect is also the ideological justification of rape as a political weapon by some of the ideological progenitors of the Hindu right.

BJP, RSS’s ideological guru Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, in one of his books Six Glorious Epochs of Indian History clearly explains why raping of Muslim women is justifiable and not to do so when the occasion permits is not virtuous or chivalrous but cowardly. Savarkar explains at length that Hindus in the past had suffered from a ‘suicidal’ (para 452) sense of virtuousness and chivalry in showing mercy towards Muslim women by letting them off easily. He gives examples (para 450) of such famous figures as Chhatrapati Shivaji who reportedly let off the daughter in law of Muslim governor of Kalyan, and Peshwa Chimaji Apte who similarly allowed the wife of Portuguese governor of Bassein to leave unscathed.

The barbarism of the eight Kathua accused who conspired to abduct, rape and murder an eight year old girl, hiding her in a temple for three days, has shocked India. There have been widespread protests across the country and outraged calls for speedy justice. One fact that seems to be getting slowly air-brushed out of the picture is this: the conspiracy to abduct the Bakerwal (a Muslim nomadic tribe) girl was planned and executed by these men with the express purpose of getting rid of the Bakerwals from that neighbourhood. However you slice and dice it, the fact remains that it was a Hindu fanatic conspiracy against a Muslim community. It was the ultimate expression of the poisonous hatred sown and fostered by the Sangh parivar in the minds of the Hindu community in the Jammu region over the years.

It was because of this connection that RSS/BJP supporters, in the garb of the Hindu Sena, held protests when the accused were arrested, that lawyers prevented chargesheet being filed in the Sessions Court in Kathua, that a Jammu bandh call was given (though it flopped), and that two BJP ministers attended a rally in support of the accused.

This is the same Savarkar whose portrait was placed in parliament under the stewardship of the BJP and whom Modi referred to as ‘a true patriot.’ Savarkar’s call for rape as a political weapon still finds open resonance among communal fanatics. Yogi Adityanath, now the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, once made a speech threatening to “convert a hundred Muslim girls for every 1 Hindu girl that ‘they’ take.” Members of Adityanath’s Hindu Yuva Vahini have openly called for the exhumation and rape of dead Muslim women. In Gujarat in 2002, Delhi 1984 and Muzaffarnagar in 2013, rape was used as a weapon against minority women.

The rape in Jammu and the manner in which it was carried out in a temple of all places illustrates how Savarkar’s ideas have borne fruit through their propagation by the whole constellation of organisations that seek to create a Hindu rashtra. Yet today, people expect there to be change in our country when Prime Minister Modi is able to both bow in front of Savarkar’s statue in parliament and then speak of rape as a ‘social evil.’

Bikash Bhattacharjee and other intellectuals highlighted RSS, BJP led mafia forces attempt to destroy Indian Democracy via organized terror and appealed the need to save Democracy.
