AGARTALA, Jan 4 (TIWN): Risks-factors for State Govt employees announced by BJP led State Govt centering the upcoming 2-days-long strike on January 8 and January 9. CPI-M called this 2-days-long-strike against Modi Govt’s anti-poor policy but strictly has been abandoned by the Govt giving a strict warning to all the employees, saying. if they ‘skip’ offices during 2-days-long strike, actions will be taken by the Govt. It was on September 10, 2018 that public in Tripura slapped on BJP Govt by conducting 100% successful strike voicing against fuel price hike nationwide. However, on that time BJP Govt slashed one-day salary of the employees and also local BJP activists in forms of mafia-like group compelled all petrol pumps and few shops to keep open on that day. This year, the strike was called by trade union backed by CPI-M in Tripura along with nationwide agitation against anti-people policy of the BJP Govt, but Govt through a circulation told the departments to keep the normal flow of offices on those two days.Naturally a chaos is expected on January 8 and 9 as the strongest opposition CPI-M has called for 2 days long strike.

Already propagandas in forms of banners, painting has been started in full wave as CPI-M is moving back in its earlier strong base. But BJP will announce war against strikers as last time all the Govt employees left absent on Strike-day, their one day salary was cut and then they were marked.

However, auto, vehicle service crisis would be created as the working class is heavily angry over the Govt both at Centre and State. Supporting Central trade union (CITUs) called two days nationwide general strike on January 8 and 9, 2019, Tripura CPI-M has started statewide propaganda, urging common men to join the strike and succeed the strike in protest of what they call the pro- corporate, anti-national and anti-people policies of the BJP-led NDA government. Tripura CPI-M fully supporting the strike has called for a peaceful observation of the strike, whereas the ruling BJP in Tripura has already opposed the strike and likely to force vehicle movement.

The protest is scheduled to have against privatization, corporate centric governance of the BJP Govt at Centre and State. “In order to serve the interests of the multinational companies with Indian corporate, the present government is pursuing blatantly anti-people, anti-workers and anti-national policies at the cost of severely damaging the national economy and destroying its indigenous productive and manufacturing capabilities. Such a regime must be defeated squarely to force the pro-people changes in policies on all fronts,” the CTUs said.

A decision to this effect was taken at the national convention of workers on Friday where 10 central trade unions, barring the RSS-affiliate Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh, jointly adopted the resolution to hold joint conventions, rallies and protests across the country over the next three months which will be followed by a two-day general strike in January next year.

The 10 central trade unions included INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF, UTUC, AIRF and NFIR. Representatives of all independent national federations of workers and employees, of industrial and service sectors, central and state government employees including railways, defence, health and education joined the convention.

“Government has been continuing to arrogantly ignore the 12 point charter of demands on minimum wage, universal social security, workers’ status including pay and facilities for the scheme workers, besides going for privatization of public and government sector and mass scale hiring on contract,” the CTUs said in a joint statement issued after the convention.

According to the statement, the CTUs are concerned over the scraping of 44 central labour laws and replacing them with what they call the “four employer-friendly labour codes” and introduction of fixed term employment through executive order.
