AGARTALA, Jan 1 (TIWN): Misleading news has been propagated that CNG auto drivers had opposed Govt order to carry auto’s fitness certificate, which is a totally misleading and anti-poor propaganda. The drivers only demanded 6 months time, so that paper works of 5000 autos in Agartala get completed.

CNG auto drivers on yesterday had come in massive protest, blocked road at Agartala seeking more time for testing their vehicles for ‘fitness’.

The agitators said, when the CPI-M Govt was in power, MP Shankar Prasad Datta in 2016 told TNGCL to give gas to vehicles without CNG.

As a result out of around 9000 auto drivers only 4000 drivers did the testing, but now all of a sudden the under the new Govt it was told TNGCL that without fitness testing certificate not to give CNG to anyone.

The drivers told media, hardly 90 testing can be done in a day, so for how many months the auto drivers will live without earning as without fitness TNGCL is not giving gas.

They have demanded at least 6 month’s relaxation for the fitness certificates’ arrangement to the 5000 vehicles.
