AGARTALA, September 30 (TIWN): Inspector General of Police (Armed) TB Roy today said that the state intelligence reports indicated fifteen more hideouts of outlawed Tripura-based militant outfits in neighbouring Bangladesh. Three of these camps are highly active, he said.Speaking to reporters in the sidelines of a press interaction of DGP K Nagaraj here today, IGP Roy said that current intelligence reports indicated zero militant movement inside Tripura. “We are aware of militant activities on the other side of the borderâ€, he said.
The hideouts are mostly located in the Chittagong Hill Tract (CHT) area, he said.
The DGP earlier said that the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) runs 32 outposts beside BSF border outposts operation along the IBB in the Tripura-Bangla frontiers. Also DGP
172 TSR camps are active inside the state, engaging in counter-insurgency operations.
Asked about scam from funds of the Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and Rs. 17 crore from MG NREGS funds from Bishalgarh, Director General of Police (DGP) K Nagaraj informed that investigations for both scams are in progress. After getting sufficient evidences and documents against Bimal Chakraborty into massive MGNREGA scam, we will take necessary steps, he added.
During the interrogation, police found more names of involved persons from Arnab Chakraborty, the scam-star of Rastriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA). Police have sealed all the bank accounts of Arnab, We will ensure proper investigation for both cases, said DGP.
Superintendent of Police (West) Bijay Nag said later that two separate raids in separate places based on the information given by Arnab Chakraborty, prime accused in the Rs. 5 crore scam from RMSA funds led to recovery of gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh.
