AGARTALA, Dec 18 (TIWN): CPI-M’s youth wings, student wings to kick off a massive protest rally on Wednesday 3 pm at Agartala voicing against BJP’s JUMLA-promises to the unemployed youths before election and in demand of fulfilling the pending BJP’s pre-election written promises immediately. Addressing in a press conference, DYFI State Secretary Amal Chakraborty said, “We do not demand any challenging issue from the BJP Govt, but what it said before the Election those basic promises should be fulfilled. Before the election house-to-house-jobs, 50,000 vacant posts filling up within a year and after the election, that much of JUMLA ?? Is this called house to house job by terminating 8000 ongoing recruitments ? Massive terminations ?”. “In bold letters BJP promised 50000 vacant posts will be filled up in the first year and now in excuse of fund crisis, recruitment has been announced to be stopped under the signature of Chief Secretary himself ? Now, Chief Minister Biplab Deb is suggesting people to rear cows and ducks".

"We are not against those professions as these are means of income but we have lakhs and lakhs of passed out unemployed youths. Instead of creating 50,000 vacant posts according the election promise, the Govt earlier cancelled all recruitments, TPSC cancelled recruitments and now they said no more job will  be given ? We condemn it”, added Chakraborty.

DYFI further asked State Govt’s clarification on this issue.

“Before the Election, when Manik Sarkar suggested alternative livelihoods, then BJP mocked at us. So many protests they did on this issue. Now where are those slogans ? Now Govt is saying Tripura having highest levels of employees in the state ?

The criticism erupted after Finance Dept in notification No.F 9 (2) FIN (G)/ 2017/ 711 dated December 17, 2018 said that Tripura having the “highest numbers of Govt employees” and there is no need of any more Govt employee unless the posts are vacated by surrender or retirement.

The order said, “Tripura has the highest level of Govt employment in the country.

The level of employment is double in Tripura in compare to the states like Meghalaya. Needless to say, there is need to be extremely prudent in the matter of further recruitments”.

The notification further says, “Creation of posts will be strictly depend of availability with budgetary resources with Department concerned. Each dept has a number of posts created in the past, which are vacant and no longer required. Hence whenever a department submits a proposal of post creation it should be accompanied with surrender/ abolition of posts with equivalent financial  implications”. In the order it was also mentioned if rules are not followed, then dire consequences will be seen and already Education Dept was issued with a fresh notice for show-cause.
