Congress burns Biplab Deb’s effigy on statewide violence

AGARTALA, Dec 13 (TIWN): Congress has burnt Chief Minister Biplab Deb’s effigy protesting against the ongoing statewide violence and attacks on Congress party offices and Congress supporters’ family members.

NSUI, Youth Congress activists raised voice against Chief Minister Biplab Deb, who is also the Home Minister’s paralyzed dept and deteriorating law and order.

Ahead of the protest, calling a press meet mddressing media, Congress State President Birjit Sinha said, “In the last Assembly Election in five states, Congress acquired a lead position. This result is further leading a BJP-free wave across nation as well as in Tripura”.

“After the election results massive violence started statewide. In Suryamaninagar area and in many other places our workers were enjoying, celebrating, burnt fire crackers. In reaction our activists faced heavy attacks by state ruling BJP and our leader Ratan Das’s house was severely attacked. His car was broken and to kill him, the BJP searched for him allover. When we filed FIR against the miscreants police instead of arresting them, arrested Ratan Das and he later came out in bail from the court, whereas on behalf of Ratan Das the case which was lodged, left without police’s action”, said Birjit Sinha.

The Congress State President further mentioned about the continuous attacks in Congress Bhawans. At least four party offices were broken, vandalized and four senior leaders were injured. He alleged that in front of police that kind of violence took place.

“Across the State, Congress activists are being attacked by BJP. In Udaipur also our leader Santi Karmakar’s house was attacked”, he added.

Sinha further said, BJP is doing such violence and attacks upon Congress out of fear.

“On December 22 the Municipal election was to be held and without asking any opposition it was delayed on December 27. We urge for peaceful election again. Before Charilam violence on result out day, Deputy CM Jishnu Debbarma was present”, Sinha said.
