Remembering Dr B R Ambedkar : Communists campaign for ‘Unity’ to fight back BJP’s communal Politics

AGARTALA, Dec 6 (TIWN): On the occasion of Father of Indian Constitution Dr B R Ambedkar’s 63rd death anniversary and Babri mosque demolition day, CPI-M and its youths wings organized mass campaign in Tripura to fight back BJP’s religious politics in the name of Hindutva. DYFI, SFI, TSU, TYF jointly campaigned for unity and integrity saying, ‘Ambedkar’s ideology should be recalled to restore democracy’. Youth wings of Tripura led DYFI General Secretary Amal Chakraborty and other units’ leaders started the campaigning with batch distribution to the common men, leaders. MP Jitendra Chaudhury and other CPI-M leaders took active participation in the programme. Like every year, on the day of Babri Mosque demolition by a political rally turned violent, CPI-M has called for “Secularism Day” to fight back the one-religion ideology of a party-political vote bank.Resentment brews as like other years in Tripura with the change of the Govt various restrictions have been imposed on programmes centering this day.CPI-M conducted a rally at Agartala today to mark this day as one of the black days of democracy, in a press conference CPI-M leader Pabitra Kar has announced.The CPI-M also has condemned the BJP Govt's decision of removal of Sanghati-Fair programme from annual list which is yearly held in Belonia, South Tripura.Sanghati-Fair is held every year on December 6, the day of Babri mosque demolition day. CPI-M has condemned the decision saying the BJP Govt in all means have continued its attacks upon the democracy, unity and integrity.

CPI-M State Secretary Gautam Das said, "Even the Chief Justice of Supreme Court (Ranjan Gogoi) has mentioned that not to abiding by the constitution is called unruliness. Today Supreme Court and Justice system are under total attack under BJP-ruling".

"We are urging the common men to fight against the anti-democratic Govt", said Gautam Das. 

(On 6 December 1992, a large crowd of Hindu Kar Sevaks demolished the 16th-century Babri Mosque in the city of Ayodhya, in Uttar Pradesh. The demolition occurred after a political rally at the site turned violent. In Hindu tradition, the city of Ayodhya is the birthplace of Rama). 

Chief Minister Biplab Deb has also paid tribute to the father of the constitution Dr B R Ambedkar on his 63rd death anniversary at Agartala. BJP, ABVP also offered tributes to Dr B R Ambedkar.

The Father of the Indian Constitution Dr Ambedkar was a jurist, economist, politician and a social reformer who campaigned against social discrimination of Dalits, women and labourers. The great leader died on this day in 1956 and the day is observed as Mahaparinirvan Diwas every year. A number of functions are being organised all over the country to mark the occasion.
