AGARTALA, Nov 20 (TIWN): Biplab Deb’s misrule, Pratima Bhowmik’s looting paralyzed Tripura’s development, no hopes of Jobs for 7 Lakhs unemployed youths, on top of that Crime Queen Pratima Bhowmik’s organized smugglings, narcotics dealing weakening State’s economy, also huge 20% approx. Fuel Taxes on Air Fuel forcing Airlines to either increase fares or shutdown operations like Spice Jet. Other Northeast states are proceeding towards development, Tripura is reeling back in 'backwardness' and with massive flight crisis situation and heavy price hike in the flight fares, people are bound to chose Railway killing over 2 days time. Resentment have brewed among the public and numbers of flights are also decreasing. Emergency passengers are the biggest victim of this situation. After state had undergone a shock with SpiceJet service's closing, the most crowded Agartala-Kolkata, Kolkata-Agartala morning flights of Indigo will also stop service from Oct 21. This will not only increase the fares further but also to create problems for regular morning travelers. Already with SpiceJet's closing flight fares went high for Agartala passengers whereas with Indigo's closing of two flights will lead more costly flight fares. Opposition parties in Tripura have been agitating on the ongoing flight crisis situation, massive fare hikes of fares in the Airways.

Congress has demanded that within 7 days an immediate down in the VAT charges on aviation turbine fuel in Tripura should be introduced. The VAT is is20% whereas Congress has demanded it should be 4% following other Northeast States.

"Tripura is already lagging behind in development. Under Jawharlal Nehru's Prime Ministry  subsidies were given for four Airports and flights were running including Khowai, Kamalpur, Kailashahar route. Kamalpur to Kailashahar at Rs. 5 the students could travel on that time. Rs. 18 was the charge for Kailashahar-Agartala route. From Kailshahar to Kolkata it was Rs. 65. But all were stopped and now a Govt (BJP) which is same at Centre and State is pushing all flights to take off permanently from Agartala Airport", Congress President Birjit Sinha told media.

The issue was raised after tickets for Delhi-Agartala, Agartala-Kolkata, Kolkata-Agartala are offering mounting charges to the travelers.

This costly flight fares were never experienced in last many years, but with numbers of quitting flights the cost is turning unbearable for common men.

Flight fares hikes are more expected as already SpiceJet service has been stopped. This is the second flight service stopped in 2 months.

Since BJP Govt came in power, flight service paralyzed in Tripura and flight fares have been increased more. However, the reason behind flights departures from state has remained unknown.

Public have expressed heavy resentment with Indigo morning flights' quitting.
