AGARTALA, September 22 (TIWN): If a contrast is made between two recent scam newsmakers Arnab and Bimal , the later is fortunate enough to have the political and bureaucratic immunity. Arnab, within a short period of the disclosure of his misdeeds, was not only arrested from far away Kolkata but the investigation is also in progress, But in the case of Bimal Chakraborty, he is still roaming free - being Chief Minister's aide and brother of left brigade’s youth wing DYFI Secretary Amal Chakraborty. Police is so scared to proceed that except the filing of FIR nothing has been done by the Police and the authority concerned.“I have talked to the Block Development Officer (BDO Das) today but you see without documents no seizure and detention can be made” said the Officer in Charge of Bishalgarh Police Station (PS) Kantilal Baidya to TIWN, today.

The Police have been made a paralysed object through the clutches of political machinery, paper formalities and official subjugation. The OC further added that this  is not a criminal case that in a swift way having the witness and following other investigating measures the case can be moved forward. The BDO himself filed an FIR but he, himself, now, has become inactive to take the proceedings further. So, probable denial from the superiors to transfer the documents, can be regarded as supression of facts and if Bimal is caught and interrogated he may name some of the noted persons seated in the utmost authorities of state.

“This is a documentary case and once everything is ready with us we shall initiate enquiry because lots of papers are involved in the case and the BDO has not disbursed anything to us”, said Kanti Lal Baidya, the OC of the PS concerned, today. And thus technically, he has sent the ball to BDO’s court. Now this game is being enjoyed by the offenders where the senior bureaucrats and ministers are acting as silent spectators, in this regard.
