AGARTALA, Aug 16 (TIWN): CPI-M’s student wing SFI has alleged on Thursday, the higher education in Tripura under Minister Ratan Lal Nath has been put under dangerous situations, citing example of the ongoing corruptions in the Colleges. Addressing in a press meet, SFI State Secretary Nabarun Deb said, “The higher education system in Tripura is gripped in corruption. It came in a daily newspaper that in few colleges in exchange of money, honours courses are being sold”.“In last 25 years no media could bring such allegations against Govt College admissions, whereas in Congress era the allegation came earlier. Not only in honours courses but in various courses same thing happened”. The SFI leader also alleged that Principals of various colleges were threatened and illegally forced to manage admissions for ineligible students. Few Colleges’ Principals were injured, became sick.“Admission began at 7 pm in Ram Thakur like colleges. What kind of ruling is this ? We never witnessed such culture in Tripura”, Nabarun said adding various forceful donation collection incidents in the same of fresher’s welcome.

“Women’s College students are bound to pay Rs. 300. When the Education Minister is collecting liquor bottles from school, is he aware about that ? From local businessmen also hefty donations are being taken without any receipt adding a new culture that Fresher’s Welcome ceremony held from afternoon 4 pm to night 10 pm”, the SFI leader said.

“SFI, TSU students were not allowed to enter in fresher’s welcome. We demand not to collect moneys like that. Fresher’s Welcome programme in MBB College was done by ABVP leader this year, which never happened in Tripura earlier ! But nobody knows where the ABVP leader stays. Even police doesn’t know where his home and beside him the Principal of MBB College was standing helplessly. What kind of culture is this ?”, he said.

SFI also criticized the DJ system used in Fresher’s Welcome. Nabarun Deb also exposed how classes have been occupied by ABVP to make it their party office.

“Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath was asking Women’s College students, what’s the name of the Chief Minister. Not student replied to him. On that day, Ratan Lal Nath should had learnt a lesson from the student on how to behave with students”, Deb said.

“He is screaming upon students, collecting liquor bottles from schools, but doesn’t he know about these ongoing scams in Colleges ?”, he added.
