AGARTALA, Aug 14 (TIWN): When BJP Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath was busy in teaching students about Tripura Cabinet Ministers’ names and their designations before dozens of media persons and blaming the previous Govt for its failure to uplift quality education and politicalization of administration in schools and colleges, BJP’s student wing ABVP have exposed BJP leaders misrules in schools. On the one side, BJP Minister Ratan Lal Nath is distributing show-cause letters to teachers, collecting liquor bottles before media, making lady headmistress to cry in front of camera and on the other side sexual harassments are going on across schools and girl students left unsafe due to intervention of BJP mandal leaders in school administration. Not only sexual harassment of students but the local BJP leaders like Jiban Debnath of Abhoynagar area along with teachers extorts money from children and does parties inside the school campus.

According to ABVP, BJP local leaders even though visit schools, extort money from kids but they never check the needs of the schools.

In this condition, ABVP General secretary Lipika Roy has asked the Govt to focus on infrastructure rather than tall claims as apart from Abhaynagar Nazrul Smriti Vidyalaya Jiban Debnath functions in various schools and colleges.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) after agitating at Abhaynagar Nazrul Smriti Vidyalaya school premise against the money extortion from school kids by a local leader Jiban Debnath, have further raised voice against two teachers and submitted the complaints to Education Director of Elementary stage Amit Shukla (IFS) regarding the teachers political influences in school campus, wrong doings and sexual assaults done to the girl students. A complaint was also registered in local police station regarding these issues. While addressing media, ABVP General Secretary, Tripura unit, Lipika Roy said, “Today we visited Abhaynagar Nazrul Smriti Vidyalaya school where the teachers collected Rs. 10 from each student to organize a farewell programme for a teacher at there. But the students were not involved in the programme and a party inside the campus was organzied by School authority. When students went to ask the teachers why they were not involved in that programme, the teachers with help of local goon cum BJP leader Jiban Debnath threatened the students”.

“The teachers with the help of Jiban Debnath threaten the students, physically and mentally torture the girl students”, Lipika Roy told media.

“Since the beginning, it was our demand that no politicalization will be tolerated in the school campus, no pressure will be given upon the students and they can study peacefully without any fear”, Lipika Roy added.

The ABVP activists also have lodged a complaint in the local police station against 2 teachers of the school and local BJP mandal leader Jiban Debnath. The two teachers are: 1) Mrinal Kanti Sinha and another is 2) Bikash Adhikari.

Lipika Roy said, it was Mrinal Kanti Sinha who is behind BJP leader Jiban Debnath’s entry in the school and it is Bikash Adhikari who sexually assaults the girl-students.

“We think women are safe in Tripura but the reality is not like that. This is going on across Tripura schools. The students have complained about how they are physically tortured, assaulted by faculty Bikash Adhikari. I request the Education Minister (Ratan Lal Nath) to take care of girls’ safety, as we talk about Girls’ Education. Girls’ Education can only be succeeded when they will be able to do classes in school without any fear”, she added.

The Education Director has however assured the ABVP activists that a committee will be formed immediately to find out the facts.
