AGARTALA, Aug 9 (TIWN): Massive turnouts in CPI-M’s ‘Jail Bharo’ rally unnerved 5 months old Biplab Deb Govt as masses are expressing grudge over BJP’s misrule and cheating over pre-election bundle of JUMLA promises. Over thousands of CPI-M activists have hit Agartala streets with protest, mass agitation as a part of nation-wide ‘Jail Bharo Andolon’ on Thursday. To control the agitators police had thrown water-cannons, tear gas and dispersed the agitators. The protest rally started from Melarmath led by opposition leader Ex Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and other top leaders of State Party unit and ending the rally they gathered at Paradise Chowmuhani. Addressing the comrades, Manik Sarkar said, “Do not step into any cunning tricks, maintain the peace and return home. We’ll inform you about the next movement of us”. Criticizing the Modi Govt, Sarkar said, “The Govt which came in power in 2014 with hefty of promises failed to fulfill single promise. No policy has been taken for the poor people but all coming in favour of rich people".

Taking a dig at the ruling Biplab Deb led BJP Govt in Tripura, Sarkar said, "Nowhere in the country, such a Govt was seen which is after opposition's party offices like this".

"Our maximum party offices have been demolished, whereas the other opposition parties conditions are also same". Sarkar further referred to an attack incident held upon Birjit Sinha, Congress President in Tripura on yesterday night, hitting the State Govt saying, "Democracy is under Threat", Sarkar said.

The Jail Bharo movement was kicked off by Farmers and Trade Union Units of the CPI-M across the State along with a National Level agitation.

The issues of their protest are associated farmers' rights as loan waiver for the farmers, to give ‘patta’ under the land rights, to save the democratic and fundamental rights of the people.

In all Districts agitations were staged by the CPI-M activists. In the capital city police din't arrest anybody whereas in many Districts CPI-M activists were arrested, later released.
