AGARTALA, July 17 (TIWN): After Supreme Court in its verdict on Tuesday has asked the Parliament to draft a new law to control mob-lynching, MP Jiten Chaudhury termed it as an “Excellent move” of the Supreme Court. Talking to TIWN, about the verdict which says that it’s the duty of the States to control the law and order, Jiten Chaudhury says, “Absolutely it is the State Govt who is responsible for the law and order and the judgement asking a new law to prevent Mon-lynching is welcomed but we (CPI-M) will see what the draft says because it’s very unfortunate that the source of rumours which led the lynching in Tripura was none other than the Law Minister himself who delivered a false statement about ‘kidney-smuggling’ without any investigation. So, the cause of the source of rumours should be identified which has snatched valuable lives”.

Welcoming the verdict, MP further condoled the lynching incident which killed 25 people in this country already.

Being asked whether the issue of Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath spreading rumour mongering will be placed in the Parliament or not, Jiten Chaudhury said, in ‘reference’ it will be said in the Parliament surely, but CPI-M will check the draft first.

On June 26,2018 Minister Ratan Lal Nath propagated FAKE news of stolen KIDNEY by KIDNEY smuggling gangs in a video-taped statement, when it was proved after post mortem that no Kidney was stolen from victim Purna Biswas.

Supreme Court has condemned the mob-lynching asking the State Govts to maintain the law and order of states. Supreme Court also made it clear that it’s the duty of the State Govt to maintain law and order at there further asking the Parliament to draft a law to stop mob-lynching. Pronouncing the judgment, Chief Justice Misra said that no one can take the law into their own hands or become a law unto himself.

In a final hearing on Tuesday condemned mob lynching incidents across the country and urged Parliament to enact a law to deal with the crime that threatens rule of law and the country's social fabric. Issuing a slew of directions including preventive, remedial and punitive steps to deal with the crime, the court said that mobocracy will not be allowed. Asking the Centre to file a compliance report on its directions, the court adjourned the matter to August 20. The judgment came on a petition seeking the apex court's intervention to curb the incidents of violence by the vigilante groups across the country.

"It is the duty of the State to maintain law and order, social and pluralistic fabric of the society and the rule of law”, bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra, Justice A.M. Khanwilkqar and Justice D.Y. Chandrachud said.
