AGARTALA, July 12 (TIWN): Tripura’s precarious position as Transit corridor for Drug Mafia operations across Info-Bangla-Myanmar region, lack of employment, industries enabled a Drug money fueled parallel economy since decades. Rs 50 Lakhs Marijuana stockpile uncovered under Jirania Bridge raised questions on Tripura Police’s intelligence gathering since CPI-M era. At Jirania below a bridge huge packets of ganja were seized and police is trying to nab the culprit. At Agartala Railway Station total 264 kg of ganja was recovered. However, statewide drive against ganja has been continued with police, BSF and GRP’s joint attempts. On the other side at Melaghar with a successful drive 1 person was arrested, whereas 669 kg of Ganjas were recovered. The ganja was found at Jirania was stored by making a hole under the cemented bridge, where years after years in such way Ganjas were stored.

The arrested person in Melaghar has been identified as Abdul Rahim and police have recovered the ganja from his house in Melaghar ward No-8 and the market price has been assumed as at least Rs. 8 lakhs. Add SP Jal Singh said, “Total 14 drums of dry ganja storage was recovered from his house. This is just the beginning and police will be continued such till the crime downs at zero level”.

Police have arrested two persons Lalindra Kumar, Suresh Ray from Tripura Sundari Express on Thursday, when they were carrying ganja from Agartala to Bihar.

At first in the platform total 110 kg of Ganjas were recovered by security, whereas later Amtali Police led by SDPO Ajay Kumar Das, GRP recovered total 55 kilo of Ganja from a packet inside the train. 

The first recovery was done in Platform No-2 whereas nobody was arrested in that search yet, but later the two persons were found with more ganjas who were already inside the train. 

Police said, such raids will be continued in coming days also.

In total today, ganja worths Rs. 50 lakhs seized from Jirania, Rs. 10 lakhs ganja from Agartala Rail Station, Rs. 8 lakhs ganja seized from Melaghar.
