AGARTALA, May 15 (TIWN): BJP’s acceptance of separatist IPFT as a political partner and partner in Government has given birth to many other separatist outfits struggling for attention on ‘anti-Bengali’ plank. Newly formed separatist party named ‘Twipra Dophani Sikla Srwngnai Motha’ has called the majority Bengalis as “Overload-Burden” for Tripura, and demanded Bengalis should be immediately pushed back to Bangladesh or they can be equally distributed among other states. Not only this, the NRC dateline they have demanded has said must be from 1949, 15th October when the then Queen Kanchan Prabha Devi joined Tripura with India. According to the separatists, as the Bengalis came after 1949, when Tripura became a part of India, thus they can not be considered as "Tripura-people".

But logically if that date is considered as the NRC date, then Tripura can not exist with India anymore. Hence it can become a separate country.

History says, Kanchan Prabha Devi was in Shillong when Pakistan had almost occupied Tripura but Tripura people and the Royal family who never wished to become a part of that portion had sought helps from the Govt of India.

On that time Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel sent army and saved Tripura from East Pakistan.

 If the Agartala Airport was not there, which was made by King Bir Bikram Manikya Bahadur then forces couldn’t be send by the Govt. However, with the initiative of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Tripura was freed from East Pakistan and thus it became a part of India.

But already since 1931 census, Bengalis were in majority in Tripura.

After that in exchange of lands with Bangladesh and India, many Bengali, mostly Hindus took shelter in Tripura who have been also paying the taxes till day.

Following the Govt of India and Bangladesh Govt’s deal, fates of lakhs of Bengalis were decided under the then PM Indira Gandhi and since then they are India’s permanent residents.

In this condition, if the whole deal with  India is denied, Govt of India’s rules are attempted to unfollow and if NRC is being done since 1949, October 15, then Tripura can not exist as an Indian state. When a state is under India, it can not prescribe own rules.

However, the state govt of Tripura is silent over the issue, even though the Indian citizens in Tripura (Bengalis) are openly called by a group of separatists as ‘Bangladeshi’.

Question raising, is this govt silent against insults of the Indian Bengali citizens who born in India, rooted in India just for the sake of vote-banks ?
