AGARTALA, April 25 (TIWN): Following the agitation of the undergoing B.Ed students on yesterday at secretariat demanding withdrawal of CM's proposed Teachers-Recruitment process without any professional qualification, Tripura Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath today via a press meet said, “Teachers will be recruited only via TET, but students were diverted in wrong direction. The numbers of ongoing B.Ed students are very less but still we will not compromise with the Quality Education”. “Our Govt will never change its policy neither there will be any compromise with Quality-Education. But right now the state is facing heavy crisis of teachers and the way the students have proposed, it will take 12 years to fill-up the vacancies with B.Ed qualification”, Ratan Lal Nath told media.“There will be no compromise with Quality Education as the recruitment will be via TET and through selection board”, Nath added.

“We have 6 B.Ed Colleges right now. Two are Govt and four are Private Colleges. Presently including 1st year and 2nd year, only 1176 B.Ed students are there and 900 are those who are already qualified. It will take around 12 years to fill up the vacancies in that way. If we don’t recruit teachers immediately then students and guardians will never forgive us. In other states also in the same way relaxations were given”, Ratan Lal Nath said.

“But in coming days any student should not leave College to sit in demonstration. Earlier, in the CPI-M era the Education system was paralyzed due to the too much interference of politics inside the Colleges and Schools. But now such activities will not be tolerated. If needed, we will come to talk to the students inside the College. From Janata Durbar to many means are there where they can place their demands”, the Minister said.

Hitting his rival leader, CPI-M MLA Badal Choudhury who on yesterday supported the agitated students in front of Secretariat, said, “In Badal Choudhury’s mouth such tall talks do not match. Since decades they have ruined the Education system. For their misruling for 25 years, the teachers crisis was created in the state”.
