AGARTALA, April 25 (TIWN): Giving a certain relief, the Chief Minister of Tripura Biplab Deb told the terminated employees of Japan Govt run JICA project on Wednesday that he is reviewing the issued order which has recently terminated them. The JICA employees sudden termination was without any cabinet meeting and following any proper instruction. Infact the whole issue have become complex as Govt even though didn’t cancel the termination order but the officer who issued the termination GS Raju was transferred from JICA and a new Director was appointed in his place. On April 19 via a circulation the then JICA Project Director & CEO G.S.Raju issued the termination of the all contractual JICA officers, Livelihood Co-ordinators, Field Felicitators, outsourced personnel from immediate effect from April 19 itself. After the job termination of JICA project's 638 employees led by BJP Govt became a controversy, JICA project Director was removed from the post and shifted in other dept.
IFS Angsuman Dey has been appointed as the new project Director, but no step was taken to re-appoint the terminated JICA employees led the terminated employees to meet the Chief Minister today at his residence.
At the same time, over 36,000 people who were beneficiary from the project are undergoing tremendous tensions.
Opposition CPI-M reacted immediately against this move of the new BJP Govt. MP Jitendra Chowdhury said, “It’s extremely unfortunate that the BJP-IPFT govt has terminated those employees who were already trained and the second phase of JICA-project was all set to start”.
However, today CM has assured the JICA’s terminated staffs that the govt is reviewing the order. Addressing the media, JICA terminated employees said, “As Chief Minister has assured us, so we are hopeful that a decision will be taken soon in this regard to save our jobs as soon as possible”.
