AGARATLA, April 24 (TIWN): A common mistake which is often done is believing ‘Hindi is India’s National Language’ and Tripura CM has repeated the same by mentioning Hindi is India's National language, when he was addressing at Agartala NIT.

The Constitution of India designates the official language of the Government of India as Hindi written in the Devanagari script, as well as English. There is no national language as declared by the Constitution of India.

CM said, “The citizens of India should make efforts to learn Hindi since it was the national language of the country”.

"Hindi is our national language and but it’s unfortunate that everyone is after English medium”, he said.

“English should be used only as a common language, but it shouldn’t be valued more than that. My son is better than me in English because he studies in English medium school. But it doesn’t mean he is more intelligent than me”, Biplab Deb said.
