AGARTALA, Feb 24 (TIWN): When politicians are accusing the Election Commission for negligence, even some of them are terming the re-polling is 'criminal-offence ', for the first time CEO Sriram Taranikanti shut all mouths saying, "We work for the constitution and our role is absolutely neutral"."We not only work for the constitution but our every activity of is recorded. It's not like anything can be hidden or something like that...........", he added."We all are directly connected to the Election Commission of India. We are connected directly by the hierarchy of the system, which has an Independent body and run according to constitution. We give with our best efforts and also we are fully neutral.........", said CEO. "Let's not go for any statement of anybody. 6 polling stations are very less in numbers and nothing is abnormal in this re-poll", he said.

"This time from physically challenged people to very old persons had cast their votes and thus delay in poll completion and few other technical issues we had to face, which is very natural to preserve the transparency".

"Faults with VVPAT was only 6.5 even though VVPATs were first time used in state, whereas in some places the officers couldn't identify simple problems like loose plugging etc and thus the issues became unnecessarily big", he added.

"Once the poll is ended we can discuss on this but my focus now is to have the re-poll with 100 % efforts. Nobody will be deprived in the re-poll, but all will get chance to vote again. We have to complete the job in hand first". The CEO also mentioned that there were only 2.5 % of EVM disturbances, whereas in some places the officers couldn't identify simple problems like loose plugging etc and the issues became unnecessarily big.

"Let's not look back. We have Charilam election too. So let's discuss after the election where we can improve", said CEO.

Noteworthy, CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar has warned CEO, if peace during polls are not maintained then public will 'Come-on-the-Field' ! "The way CEO has sent the reports to Election Commission it's clear that his role is partial and exactly those booths were selected for re-polling, where CPI-M's winning chance is sure, so that oppositions get another chance". On the other side, BJP leader Subal Bhowmik has called polling-personnel as 'uneducated'.
